Blue Horizon DVD
What do you get when you mix one of the world's best competitive surfers with one of the world's best free surfers? You get the exciting new surfing film Blue Horizon, with direction and cinematography from award-winning filmmaker, Jack McCoy.
Starring current world champion Andy Irons, and legendary ‘soul surfer' Dave ‘Rasta' Rastovich, the film follows their unique and contrasting lifestyles over the past two years.
Taking viewers to new surf territory in exotic locations around the world, Blue Horizon features not only state of the art surfing and photography, but also provides an insight into the history of the sport. Through the eyes of Andy and Rasta the film acknowledges where surfing has come from, where it is today and where it might go in the future.
Blue Horizon also follows the close battle for the 2003 world title between six-time world champion Kelly Slater and reigning champion, Andy Irons, culminating in a nail biting finish in Hawaii. McCoy couldn't have planned for a better finale, "When we started production on the film two years ago we would not have believed that Andy Irons was going to win back to back world championships.
" It has been an amazing opportunity working with such incredibly talented surfers" says McCoy. "Andy is a totally focused competitor who aspires to be the best in the world. Dave on the other hand, is already a wise soul at 22 and enjoys all aspects of the surfing experience - a true waterman. The two together are a powerful balance of pure energy."
The Chilli View... From the opening tube ride that will have you screaming at its intensity, Blue Horizon is (imho) McCoys best film since Stormriders.
As much as I love to stare in disbelief at the cutting edge of professional surfing, I equally love to see high performance surfing on boards away from the standard thruster mantra (you have to check out the black carbon fibre 5ft2" - or some crazy small size - board that Rasta rides in some of the sections, unbelievable), and this is a film that delivers strongly on both points. Definitely one to buy.
