Between the Lines DVD
Between the Lines
The Chilli View, with special guest editor Steve from Clicked magazine….
For those unsure V-Club is a core BMX Clothing brand from Texas, Between the Lines is their first team DVD and from the action they lay down you’ll be gagging for another dose within seconds of the title credits fading.
The video starts off with a mellow intro that introduces the whole team and makes you eager to see the riders’ sections.... The intro soon ends and all of a sudden this hard-core track kicks in with a stack of evil looking crashes which make you cringe like mad ... its cool though because all of the slams are tricks that are later pulled in the riders sections.
Chase Hawke has the first mini part, for those who don't know who Chase Hawke is, he is the little kid from Austin that everyone had an opinion on soon to be totally shut down by his riding on Roadfools 14... so now he's everyone's favourite rider! His part is good, some great trail runs and awesome kick outs. Chase's track is then shared with a guy called Matt Morren who proceeds to do this best Joe Rich impression on the Austin Bowl with some killer icepick grinds.
I personally get really excited about the next part, not sexually or anything, its just this guy is amazing. His name is Randy Taylor and most people who ride will know of that name from the odd clip on Props. The section is totally unreal, he's so good... Whips both ways and he nails a downside whip to pedal 270 on a sub. Blimey.
Jeremy Hrabal has the next full part with a wonderful Cursive track (good choice)! First impression is that he's a hucker as his part starts with some nasty crashes but you will soon learn he is so NOT a hucker. Jeremy is the V-Club owner, he filmed and edited this video and has skills on a bike to boot. Favorite clips in this part from me are where Jeremy does a street gap over some guy randomly jogging along.
Next up is Ryan Smiths part, His part is kind of basic although the basics couldn't be done any better, and he’s dead smooth on everything he rides and doesn't hop and skip about on his tricks.... His part has some really nice trail runs and great toboggan and seat grabs airs over at the T1 ramp.
A Friend / Random section comes next, tons of the usual Texas ditches and curved wallride spots that us English people cant get enough of seeing.... This part also has some Morgan Wade clips, which are worth seeing.
David Bryan's part is plain nuts, he's a bit of a stunt man is David.... He fires off a ghetto loop and isn't afraid of flipping out of a mellow ditch (even though you see him land of his head trying it on the intro) David also likes fire off some long rails, good stuff.
Danny Hickerson is always a joy to watch, mainly because you can place small money bets on which foot will be forward on the next clip. He is so hard to figure out, and even harder to imagine how the hell he does it all. Danny is Danny so I don't really need to explain his part too much; after all we all know how good he is.
Next part comes from Brandon Hopkins... Some people may remember that he had a clip or two on Megatour 3 going a whip air to manual 180. His part has that trick on it along with a stack of other manual 180 and whip moves.
Dylan Smith has the next part, and a bloody rad one at that... Dylan is that small kid who does massive airs on the T1 ramp - he can also do wallrides to downside whips and flow about any skatepark better than anyone. His part ends with a fufanu to manual to whip hop into a bank, you gotta’ see it.
The video wraps up with Aaron Ross.... Aaron looks like this guy who turns up at my trails, I fail to see why that's of interest to anyone but I felt like writing it so I did. Aaron has some wonderful bike skills, he feebles a thin flat rail to whip off and does a massive rail to a tight 360 hop on the floor as soon as he lands to a quick whip off the curb... Its a great section, cant be missed.
That's all on V-Club clothing 'Between the lines' although I should mention the rap off that two fat kids from Georgetown have against each other after the credits.... On one hand it makes you want to kill yourself out of embarrassment for the two kids involved but on the other hand, its pretty darn funny ... they have a long way to go before they win over gangs in Detroit.
